Culross
looking out over the Town House with the Forth behind
In the 16th and 17th century Culross (pronounced Coo-riss) was a major port and coal mining centre. It is unusual in that much of the village has been preserved from this period making it a popular choice as a film and TV location, most recently for the Outlander TV series. This is the view from the top of the steeply sloping garden of Culross Palace across the village towards the Forth and the Lothian coast beyond.
